State Parks drags out Tesla planning process
State Parks target date to complete the Tesla planning process keeps slipping. What was in 2022 going to be a decision on classification by the end of 2024, and a completed general plan 2-3 years later, is now a combined classification/general plan to be completed in the next 3-5 years (at the 1/28/25 scoping meeting 3-5 years was provided at the completion date; at the 3/26/25 SPRC meeting 3 years, or 2027-2028, was presented).
We will keep pressing for prompt action to establish Tesla as a Reserve, and open it to the public for low intensity uses. There is irrefutable evidence that Tesla should be classified as a Reserve which should then lead to quick preparation and action on the General Plan.
State Parks provides information about the Tesla planning process at its website – www.alamedateslaplan.com .
The next expected key step is a ‘Concept Alternatives Workshop’ to be held sometime in summer (pushed back from sometime in spring). We will need your help to attend when that workshop is scheduled.
