Tesla Reserve Concept Plan – ‘win-win’ for all

Read the Tesla Reserve Concept Plan for a full description of how we can fully and durably protect Tesla forever, and provide a one-of-a-kind experience for the public.

  • Classify Tesla’s 3,100 acres as a Reserve under PRC 5019.65(a), providing the best available statutory option to protect Tesla’s irreplaceable natural and cultural landscape, and making it the only Reserve in the region.
  • Name the Reserve “Hismet Warep”, meaning Sacred Earth” in Ohlone Chochenyo language. With co-management agreements with local Indigenous Tribes to protect the entire Tribal Cultural Landscape, the public experience can encompass the relationship of Indigenous People with the land,
  • Provide public access for low-intensity recreation, enjoyment and education, such as hiking, nature appreciation, and interpretive tours, offering a unique range of natural and cultural resource experiences.
  • Use adjacent State Parks land that is already impacted with development for active, high-intensity recreation uses such as campgrounds, biking, and visitor center, thereby preserving Tesla.
